From 1992 to 2003, Michelle Armstrong worked as a prosecutor at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, New York. As a result of her exceptional trial skills and strategies, she quickly rose through the ranks as an Assistant District Attorney (ADA) to become a reputable attorney amongst her colleagues and defense attorneys. During her career as a prosecutor, she served as Senior ADA in the Homicide Bureau trying many complex high profile murder cases; Bureau Chief of a Felony Trial Bureau supervising approximately thirty Assistant District Attorneys in the prosecution of all types of felonies and misdemeanor cases including robberies, assaults, sex crimes, drug offenses, DWI’s, and more; and Executive ADA of the School Crimes Bureau in charge of all felony and misdemeanor prosecutions occurring on or near school grounds throughout Brooklyn. In 2003, she resigned from her appointment as an Assistant District Attorney, having won 95% of the cases she tried to verdict, to accept a position as Supervisory General Attorney at the United States Department of Education’s, New York Office of Civil Rights. In this capacity, she supervised a team of attorneys and investigators in the enforcement of federal civil rights laws which prohibit discrimination on the bases of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, and age in the school setting throughout New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.

Ms. Armstrong has made several television appearances on Court TV and Manhattan Cable Network as a legal expert commenting on high publicity homicide cases in other states, and served as visiting faculty at Emory Law School’s renowned trial techniques course for first year law students in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ms. Armstrong earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Hampton University in 1989, and a Juris Doctor of Law Degree from George Washington University’s National Law Center in Washington, D.C. in 1992. She immediately took and passed the New York and New Jersey State Bar exams, and is currently admitted to practice in New York State and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. She is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the American Inns of Court (Nassau).
